Poulton man banned from all football grounds after racist slurs at Blackpool FC game
A man has been banned for attending football games for three years after making racist slurs in Blackpool. The 62-year-old is not allowed to enter football grounds.
Harold Bowden was heard repeatedly making racist remarks at Blackpool Football Club’s Championship clash with Stoke City at Bloomfield Road, on November 3 last year. The 62-year-old made the comments as players took the knee before kick-off. Bowden, of Breck Road, Poulton, appeared before Blackpool Magistrates Court. He was convicted of a racially aggravated public order offence.Magistrates fined Bowden a total of £1,353 and issued a three-year football banning order.
PC Byron Worrall, of Lancashire Police, said: “The large fine and the banning order show that the courts are taking a strong stance on offences of this nature. Such behaviour won’t be tolerated at football grounds.”
