Man arrested outside Buckingham Palace after throwing suspected shotgun cartridges detained under Mental Health Act
A man suspected of throwing shotgun cartridges outside Buckingham Palace has been detained under the Mental Health Act.Officers responded and detained a 59-year-old man who was found with a knife. He was not in possession of a firearm.
A man was arrested on suspicion of possession of offensive weapon and taken into custody. On Wednesday, 3 May he was detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital.A cordon was put in place after the incident after the man was also found to be in possession of a bag. Specialists attended and a controlled explosion was conducted as a precaution.Read more of today's top stories here
