A man has been arrested after ‘riding his bicycle straight into a police van’ near a shopping centre in Bury, cops have confirmed.
Officers were driving along Peel Way yesterday afternoon, near to The Rock shopping centre, when the cyclist and van collided. The individual concerned had previously escaped from cops. He suffered minor injuries, GMP said, and was later arrested for breaking a community order. The force has also referred the matter to the Professional Standards Branch for further examination.A spokesperson for the force also confirmed that ‘a Police Vehicle Accident Report has been completed by the Road Policing Unit’. “Colleagues from NWAS attended and he was taken to hospital, where his injuries were described as minor. After treatment, he was arrested for breach of a community order and is currently in custody for questioning. “The matter has been referred to the Professional Standards Branch and a Police Vehicle Accident Report has been completed by the Road Policing Unit.”
