Officers from Nottinghamshire Police’s operational support unit spotted the Vauxhall Astra, which was travelling in the Clifton area during the early hours of today .
The driver tried to evade police and failed to stop. A short time later the car came to a stop in Village Road and a man was detained.A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and possession of cannabis.
Police Constable Anna Fisher, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a really great bit of proactive police work. We understand the significant impact vehicle theft can have on victims, both in terms of the financial impact and also how being without a vehicle can disrupt their daily activities. “I’m pleased our officers acted swiftly to make this arrest and I hope it warns others who commits crime in Nottinghamshire that we will catch them and ensure they are appropriately dealt with.”
