A man was arrested and later released on bail after allegedly breaking into a Nanoose Bay home and sexually assaulting a resident.

A man was arrested and later released on bail after allegedly breaking into a Nanoose Bay home and sexually assaulting a resident last month, according to Oceanside RCMP.

On July 30 at around 5:15 a.m., RCMP were called to the Morello Road area for a report of a break-in and sexual assault at a residence.Sign up for our newsletter to get breaking news and daily digests sent to your email.The suspect, a 29-year-old man, was later located and arrested at around 11 a.m., RCMP said in a news release. He was subsequently released on bail with a date in court in Nanaimo this September.

Oceanside RCMP say the investigation into the incident is ongoing and ask anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police to call the detachment at 250-248-6111, quoting file 2022-7268.
