Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to a house in Shropshire in the early hours.
A man and woman have died after a fire at a house in Shropshire.
Emergency crews were called to Glentworth Close, in Oswestry, at about 04:30 GMT, West Midlands Ambulance Service said. The woman, who was in a critical condition after being rescued from the fire, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital where she died a short time later.Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters arrived to find flames and smoke rising from the building.
They entered in breathing apparatus and were able to get the man, believed to be in his 50s out of the building, along with the woman, thought to be in her 80s.SFRS area manager Adam Matthews said: "This was an extremely tragic incident that will undoubtedly be felt throughout the community." He added: "Firefighters worked tirelessly to help the individuals involved but sadly there was nothing more they could do."Follow BBC West Midlands on
