A jury has heard a man accused of murdering a Met Police sergeant after letting off shots inside a holding cell suffered brain damage after being hit in the neck by one of the bullets.

Sgt Ratana - who had served with the Met since 1991 - was the first British officer ever killed inside a police station. He appeared in the dock at the Old Bailey in a wheelchair and with his right arm in a sling on Tuesday and confirmed his name and date-of-birth by writing them on a whiteboard.
