Gatineau police say they arrested a 41\u002Dyear\u002Dold man last month for threats he’s alleged to have made to teens he’d recruited, or tried to recruit, to sell…

Police got a tip in May that the man was trying to lure youth into the sales ring, police said Tuesday.

Investigators learned he’d gone into a business in Masson-Angers to solicit teens several times and “even given free cannabis to some of them in order to encourage them to buy his products.”The man is accused of threatening the girl when she was caught with cannabis by school officials. Officers identified the suspect, who’d recently moved to Gatineau from the Toronto area, and searches at two residences yielded cannabis and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Investigators have submitted a charge of making threats to prosecutors, along with Cannabis Act charges including possession of cannabis, distribution and distribution to a minor, possession for the purpose of distribution, sale of cannabis and sale to minors, distribution of illicit cannabis for sale, assisting a minor in the sale of cannabis and providing cannabis as an inducement for purchase.
