His mum Helen told Lancs Live: "We were told that he was touch and go. The police told us we had to go to the hospital because he might not make it. "We arrived in Manchester and I remember the doctor telling us that: 'If we do this surgery he will never be Ryan again.'"Doctors performed a craniotomy on Ryan, which involves removing a section of his skull to stop the swelling on his brain.He has suffered a number of infections since the big operation, and other bouts of illness because he still undergoes different procedures.
