A 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly breaking into a rental flat along Yishun Ring Road and stealing eight mobile phones belonging to five tenants.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him on the same day.
The eight mobile phones, which have a total estimated value of about $3,400, were recovered hidden under a nearby bin. The man will be charged in court on Sept 2 with housebreaking in order to commit theft, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine.Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and closed-shackle padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;
