MaMkhize, owner of Royal AM football club, is facing financial difficulties as players refuse to train due to unpaid salaries.
Chippa United's Betway Premiership match against Royal AM was postponed earlier this week. The Chilli Boys revealed that the PSL had provided no reason for the postponement. It has since been established that Royal AM players refused to return to training and are demanding payment of their outstanding December salaries. Reports indicate that players approached the Premier Soccer League to reschedule their match as their salary woes are yet to be addressed.
MaMkhize has yet to address the reports that have since thrust her into the top trends. This is not the first time the celebrated multimillionaire has made such headlines. In 2023, MaMkhize was forced to address claims that she had not paid her players their salaries in three months. She made it known that the reports were false and stated that she paid all her employees, including players, within the stipulated time frame. However, unconfirmed reports suggest the South African Revenue Service is considering liquidating Royal AM to recoup R40 million in unpaid taxes owed by MaMkhize. Against the judgment, the High Court of South Africa ordered MaMkhize to cough up her debts to SARS. However, the High Court also directed the court sheriff “to attach and remove the movable property of the Royal AM.” Last year, the SARS closed down on MaMkhize as they raided her R20 million mansion in Durban against the court order.
