Mamelodi Sundowns technical team has handed Gaston Sirino a career lifeline following what has been a difficult period for him.
Sirino has been frozen out by Sundowns from the day he requested to leave the club despite having a running contract with them for the next two seasons.
At the time, he was linked with the likes of Al Ahly and Al Wahda, but Sundowns turned down his request until he issued an apology to the club.Sundowns were expected to let Sirino leave on transfer deadline day, but that wasn’t the case as they held on to him, and the Uruguayan had no choice but to honour his contract.Now, with seven players ruled out of Wednesday’s Carling Knockout Cup against TS Galaxy, Sundowns have recalled Sirino into the team.
All Sirino has to do is to impress Mokwena and his technical team, and prove that he’s still committed to Sundowns.This is the first time this season that Sirino gets to be part of the Sundowns matchday squad, and it’s now up to him to grab the opportunity with both hands.
