South African Police Service spokesperson in the Western Cape Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie said preliminary reports suggest that unknown gunmen opened fire on the 42-year-old victim who was declared deceased by medical personnel who attended to the scene. Eben Etzebeth will write his name into South African folklore when he becomes the joint most capped Springbok of all time.
