Decision-making by consensus continues to be the central tenet of Asean, but that does not mean the grouping should keep silent over developments in member states that affect the wider region, said Datuk Seri Anwar at a separate public lecture on Thursday . “In all honesty, I believe that non-interference is not a licence for indifference,” he said during an address at the University of the Philippines in Manila on Thursday, Bernama reported.
During his meeting with Mr Marcos Jr at the Malacanang Palace on Wednesday, Mr Anwar said Myanmar was not merely an internal issue, and had adversely affected Malaysia which houses a huge number of its mostly Rohingya refugees, which exceeds 200,000 people.
