To his full range of solo recitals, chamber music and teaching, Vogt has added conducting as music director of the U.K.’s Royal Northern Sinfonia. And he founded his own chamber music festival based in the village of Heimbach near Cologne, where programs take place in an art nouveau former hydroelectric power station.

“I’ve known Christian for about 30 years, and we’ve been performing together for over 20,” Vogt said. “From my teens I have always played piano trios, and at some point we just started playing concerts together. We feel that we are put on this earth to play together.”“We’ve got a very, very efficient North American agent,” Vogt laughs. “So we have eight performances in nine days.”
