Two homes have reportedly been flooded
A major road in Nottinghamshire has been closed by police due to severe flooding in the area. Beck Lane near Mansfield is shut in both directions, with local residents reporting that nearby homes had been flooded and cars were being abandoned.
Photos from the scene show part of the main road submerged in water. Police can be seen redirecting traffic. Penniment Lane resident Dylan James said he was unable to get to work due to the closure. "It's very bad, the fire service are here as well as three marked police cars," said the 21-year-old."Cars have been mounting the pavement and four cars had to be abandoned, it's unbelievable. Two homes have been flooded on Beck Lane, luckily nobody lives in one of them.
"One woman says her ground floor has been flooded and her belongings have been ruined. We live on the street behind so haven't been affected, if those houses weren't there in front of us it would happen to us." Mr James said flooding had been a problem since he moved in six years ago, but said the problem had got worse in recent years.
