Motorsport South Africa announced that racing legend Louwrens Mahoney will take over the reins of the South African National Cross Country Motorcycle Championship.
The multiple South African national champion and three-time Roof of Africa winner and his wife Marilyn will take over as chairperson and vice-chairperson of the MSA Cross Country Motorcycle Working Group from Kyle Enslin and Deanne Ballington, respectively.“Besides his impeccable racing pedigree, Mahoney is no stranger to event management. He served as a race director in 2016 for the South African Cross Country Series for the national motorcycles and quads.
Commenting on the appointment, Mahoney said, “I am honoured to give back to racing that has played such an influential part in my career and life. I believe cross country racing holds great power to unite people, test one’s capabilities and endure challenges that come your way.” He added, “We aim at creating a safe, controlled platform for riders, manufacturers and teams to showcase their talents, strengths and determination.
