Elections in six states are expected to be held by August this year. Read more at straitstimes.com.

Parti Pejuang Tanah Air, a party founded by former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, has applied to join the opposition Perikatan Nasional coalition.

Datuk Seri Mukhriz said the decision to join PN was made two days ago following the party’s central executive council meeting after reviewing all options for political cooperation. “It is more beneficial to all parties if Pejuang joins PN and contest using PN logo. This will mean Pejuang cooperation is not limited to the upcoming state elections but also for the long term,” he added.

Mr Mukhriz’s father, Tun Dr Mahathir, founded Pejuang in 2020, and later founded Gerakan Tanah Air along with several other Malay-Muslim parties in August 2022, ahead of the 15th General Election that took place last November.
