The club sits in position four on the log.
When Royal AM bought the status of Bloemfontein Celtic and the Phunya Sele-Sele players merging with the KwaZulu-Natal outfit players, no one thought the club would enjoy a decent start to the DStv Premiership.Coached by John Maduka, the former Celtic player has managed to assemble a competitive squad and results in their last eight games prove that they are a side not to be taken for granted.
In those matches, they have won four, including their 4-1 victory against Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs, and more recently they were unfortunate not to beat another Soweto side Orlando Pirates with the teams playing to a 1-1 draw. The club sits in position four on the log having accumulated 14 points, and Maduka is content with the way things are going and says getting a draw against the Buccaneers away from home in their previous game is a positive result for them.
“We are a young team on the block, we just put the team together and we are happy with the progress. There will be times when we will win games and there will be times when we lose or draw games. But for us to get a point away from home . It is our second point away from home, it is a good result for us,” said the Royal mentor.
“When we play at home it is a different story, we always go all out for maximum points, but when you play away from home you try to be cautious, whatever you get you get, if you get three points it’s a bonus. But you’re playing Pirates away from home, they haven’t won games for quite some time now, so we knew they would come hard at us and we managed to deal with them,” concluded the former Celtic player.
