Billionaire philanthropist MacKenzie Scott gave to groups including Planned Parenthood, Habitat for Humanity and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, aiming to support needs of underrepresented groups

Ms. Scott has given away more than $12 billion to over 1,000 groups since her 2019 pledge, according to her posts on Medium. “I have a disproportionate amount of money to share,”Habitat for Humanity International along with 84 U.S. Habitat affiliate organizations received, the organization said earlier this week. Habitat for Humanity will use its portion of the funding to boost the supply of affordable housing and on other housing measures.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of America and various affiliates were awarded with a $281 million gift from Ms. Scott, the largest gift given in the organization’s 160-year history, it said. The groups said the donation will help it expand its youth-development programs across the U.S. Planned Parenthood received a donation of $275 million to the national organization and 21 affiliates.The recipients also included Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
