M6 rush-hour traffic chaos as crash leads to miles of queues and 50-minute delays - live updates
Rush-hour commuters on the M6 are facing long delays this morning following a crash.
There are currently 50-minute delays on the southbound carriageway below Lancashire as emergency services deal with the incident. It took place on the Thelwall Viaduct southbound carriageway between junction 21A and junction 21 at around 7am today . All traffic was held for around 10 minutes and the vehicles involved were moved to the hard shoulder. All lanes have since reopened, however there are miles of congestion back to junction 25.Traffic monitoring website, INRIX, said: "Long delays and queueing traffic due to accident, now on the hard shoulder on M6 Thelwall Viaduct Southbound from J21A M62 J10 to J21 A57 Manchester Road . Congestion to J25 .
"All lanes have been re-opened. Travel time is around 50 minutes. Road has re-opened after traffic was held for around ten minutes."
