The M1 through West Northamptonshire is finally open
to four lanes of traffic after years of upgrade works. But the 60mph speed limit will remain in place until Christmas.
New lanes will also be open on the section between junction 15 and junction 16 next month. Both upgraded sections are expected to be fully open by the end of the year.A 60mph speed limit, temporary additional CCTV from the roadworks and a free recovery service will remain in place while final technology tests are carried out. This can only happen when there are no roadworks, and when drivers are able to use all lanes of the upgraded carriageway, according to National Highways.
