On what would have been his 37th birthday, Kiernan ' AKA ' Forbes's mother, Lynn Forbes , reflected on the day her late son was born. Lynn took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message, remembering the moment she first held her newborn baby. 'On this day, at 1:15 in the early morning, I heard your first cry; I felt your warmth as you were placed on my chest. Your natural birth, 37 years ago, left me exhausted yet invigorated,' she wrote.
She went on to describe the unbreakable bond they shared, saying she couldn't take her eyes off her tiny baby, counting every toe and finger. 'In that moment, my heart changed forever; you made me a mother. I was yours, and you were mine. A bond unbreakable, an infinite love.'While acknowledging the pain of AKA's passing, Lynn shared that his spirit lives on. She spoke of how people often share heartwarming stories about their encounters with AKA, bringing both healing and comfort. Lynn also recently traveled to Türkiye with her daughter, Kairo, a trip she believes AKA would have loved. 'On this trip, it literally feels as if we are walking in his footsteps, with him leading the way wherever we go,' she shared. In a separate remembrance, football legend Benni McCarthy spoke about his close bond with AKA, revealing that the rapper was the only person who could have convinced him to return to music. 'The closest person that could've gotten me back into music or doing anything remotely was the late AKA,' McCarthy said in a 5FM interview.
