The Sweet 16 is here. The stakes for each team are high; and for each athlete competing, it’s a rare chance to raise your profile and attract new NIL deals.

“Reaching the Sweet 16 and excelling as an underdog or star player can be a lucrative opportunity for college athletes,” Bob Lynch, Founder and CEO of

, said. “In last year’s tournament, 40% of the highest performing 25 players secured new endorsement deals during or shortly after the tourney.”January 1, 2022 through March 1, 202330 different brands activated with college athletes around social and sustainability causes, up from 13 the year before.

The most active brands involving individual athletes as measured by the number of deals were: Dunkin’ , Children’s Safety Center of Washington County , Degree deodorant , Bumble dating app , and Urban Outfitters .
