The foundation has recently introduced a retirement oasis wherein older cats may live out their last years to the fullest. An upgrading of a portion of the non profit's facilities has been completed, with the renovations catering specifically to the needs of older cats.
The animal shelter, located in the heart of Malmesbury, was established in January of 2010, after its founding members discovered a pregnant dog, tied with a wire to a railway line in Wellington.
The incident highlighted the pressing need for animals, who other organisations cannot take in due to the time frame of their rehabilitation process, to be granted access to shelter and care. The Lucky Lucy Foundation, a registered non-profit, was then established to give hope to animals that would otherwise have been left without a second chance at a normal and happy life.‘The Lucky Lucy Foundation is not just a small charity trying to save the world, but a stepping stone of hope for neglected and abused domestic animals providing them with a beacon of light.’
Most notably, the foundation has recently introduced a retirement oasis wherein older cats may live out their last years to the fullest. An upgrading of a portion of the non-profit’s facilities has been completed, with the renovations catering specifically to the needs of the older cats. ‘there’s nothing more rewarding than watching the cats take full advantage of a newly completed area. The shaded section and paved areas in the retirement area is almost finished and while the work will likely never be completely done, it brings us great satisfaction to see our cats enjoying each new space, whether it’s a flower bed, herb garden, or shaded area.’
