The number of building permits issued by the City of Belleville last month was down a little but the construction value was higher.

The City’s monthly Building Report shows 52 permits with a construction value of $8.8 million were issued in March, compared to 55 permits worth $6.2 million in March 2022.Year-to-date construction is up significantly with $33.8 million in work so far, compared to $14.9 million over the first three months of last year.

A couple of other large permits were granted earlier this year for a $12.7 million addition at the Kellogg’s plant on College Street East and a $6 million project converting the former federal building on North Front Street into apartments.
