A poll has found rising support among Scots for LEZs in our biggest cities, despite controversy over the Glasgow scheme introduced last June.
Low emission zones in Scotland’s biggest cities are now supported by six in ten residents, a poll has found.
The move to a Glasgow LEZ has been controversial amid claims it is hammering the taxi trade and night-time economy. “Cities around the world have been implementing LEZs in response to continued scientific findings into the effects of air pollution caused predominantly by vehicle emissions. “By encouraging a shift away from cars and towards sustainable transport, we make our city centres better places to live, work in and visit – while at the same time protecting public health and the climate.”
