Love of chess inspires Cape Town kids to design special chessboard for the blind
The brains behind a chessboard for the visually impaired : Jair February, Abigail Schubert and Ryan Fortuin. The trio are raising funds to showcase their invention overseas.
The team were inspired to create the chessboard by their love of chess and Jair’s mother, Velindie, who lost her sight in 2018 due to corneal melting.They hope to display their invention at the 2024 Asia Pacific Open Championship in Australia in July.
