Christopher Jerome Sterling was arrested this week and charged with obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact to second degree murder in connection with a 2018 wedding day killing.
According to authorities, the suspect is now believed to have removed the digital video recorder before the local police arrived at the scene of the incident.
The victim, 36-year-old Byron Jenkins, passed away at the scene after being found in the parking lot of the address with"apparent gunshot injuries," police said in a release at the time, adding a 23-year-old woman also suffered a gunshot injury later determined to be"non-life threatening." Authorities said they later received several tips claiming the surveillance cameras had been working and the shooter was another friend ofIn May last year, police obtained photographs appearing to show the victim inside the property. In the background of the image, the surveillance cameras appeared to be operating as normal. Police now allege Sterling removed the DVR to aid the shooter in evading detection and arrest.
