The LPGA Tour star from nearby Smiths Falls is the undisputed star of the show at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club this week.

That in itself appears to have boosted the confidence of the 24-year-old native of Smiths Falls, but so has a recent run of success. After uncharacteristically missing the cut in consecutive tournaments in late April, she has two victories in six starts since then, winning the ShopRite LPGA Classic in New Jersey in June and her second major championship in the Amundi Evian Championship in France in July.

“The last few months have been a lot of fun,” said Henderson, whose twin 2022 titles have increased her career total to an even dozen, 11 of them with her older sister Brittany Henderson as caddie.Photo by Tony Caldwell“I feel like my game has been in a really good spot, and I have been able to win twice, which is awesome. Even in the weeks where I didn’t win, I was still getting top finishes. I think the last few months my worst finish is like , so that’s a lot of fun.

Momentum is something Henderson has in ample supply every time she tees up in competition in her home country. After having to make a birdie on the final hole of her second round in the 2017 CP Women’s Open at Ottawa Hunt, she shot a course-record 63 in the third round to get into contention. Though the fourth and final round caused her to slide into an eventual tie for 12th overall, whatever experience she gained that week paid off a year later at the Wascana Country Club in Regina, where she became the first Canadian to win an LPGA Tour event on home soil in 45 years.

A year after that, at the Magna Golf Club in Aurora, Ont., Henderson tied for third behind South Korea’s Jin Young Ko.Article contentBrooke Henderson during a practice round at the CP Women's Open at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club on Tuesday.Brooke Henderson during a practice round at the CP Women's Open at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club on Tuesday.Brooke Henderson during a practice round at the CP Women's Open at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club on Tuesday.
