The front office did its part, moving away from at times erratic outfielders Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Teoscar Hernandez and replacing them with veterans Kevin Kiermaier and Daulton Varsho. They placed an emphasis on preventing runs to complement a lineup capable of scoring them.
What Schneider has seen through all the stations on the Jays minor league ladder is a player undaunted by his age and relative inexperience. “i think arbitration is an incredible flawed process and one that isn’t good for the game, or players, or owners or teams,” Bichette said.“To avoid it is good, but also to be on the same page as the team is nice, too.”
Schneider appreciates the collective peace of mind the three-year pact brought days before things got under way here. It’s early, but there were at least a couple of observations that caught the eye of Schneider. There were pitchers Nate Pearson and Trent Thornton “filling the zone,” as the skipper put it, during their throwing sessions.
