An irate Valo then struck his colleague in the back of the head with the peel, which is used to move pies in and out of the oven, according to the criminal complaint.

John Vano, 50, used the kitchen tool to strike his co-worker during a heated fight at La Piazza in Merrick, cops said. After the victim fell to the ground, Vano punched him in the face, according to the court document. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated for substantial pain and a cut on his lip.
