San Antonio's rainy season enters its final month with chances of heavy rain this weekend forecast by the National Weather Service.
. Friday is expected to be dry and hot, but rain could return during the weekend and into next week. The forecast calls for a chance of rain every day from Saturday until Wednesday.
"It's the time of year where we have ample Gulf moisture and slow-moving patterns," said Keith White, a lead meteorologist with the NWS office in New Braunfels, which serves the San Antonio area."We could see some locally heavy rains with any possible storms, and it's certainly possible for the area to see some heavier amounts, from 1 to 2 inches. There's a chance that some areas see no rain at all while others see multiple inches.
White noted that no large weather systems are expected to move into the area in the next week, but we will have multiple opportunities for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Additionally, the NWS issued a warning about a"threat of large hail" and damaging winds in, although those threats are not expected to be seen in San Antonio.
"There's a risk for severe weather tomorrow in the northwestern part of the area, although we can't rule out a storm or two moving toward San Antonio," White said."There are no mentionable storm chances in the city, however."
