The Conservative Party of Canada has elected Pierre Poilievre as their new leader, and he’s receiving high praise from the party’s riding association in Sault Ste. Marie.
Bryan Gagne, the president of the Sault’s Conservative riding association, says there’s a lot of voters, old and new, who are feeling excited about the party’s transition with Poilievre at the headship. In April, Poilievre paid a visit to the Sault on his campaign trail, echoing these promises, among others, to an audience of several hundred local supporters – including Gagne.
After winning convincingly in 2015, Sheehan reclaimed his seat over Conservative candidate Sonny Spina by 2,732 votes in 2019. Nearly two years later, Sheehan narrowly defended that seat in the snap election with a 247-vote victory over Spina again.
