Residents in a Nottinghamshire town have expressed their delight after a local pub was crowned as Nottingham Camra 's Pub of the Year. The Horse & Jockey, located on Nottingham Road in Stapleford , has been the overall winner of Nottingham's Campaign for Real Ale for four years running, having also been a finalist in the national awards in 2013 and 2022. The pub has 13 real ales , including at least one mild or stout/porter, with five of them brewed within 20 miles of the venue.
And with its welcoming atmosphere boasting occasional live music, a weekly quiz and wood burners, the public house has proved to be very popular among Stapleford residents. Hilary Day, 68, lives nearby and says that, although she is not a big drinker, she had a great time when she spent Christmas at the pub with her family and added that it deserves its title. She said: "It's very nice, from the people in there to the atmosphere. "When we went at Christmas it was very busy and we had a great time
