These bombings were part of an unprecedented early morning attack during a major Jewish holiday.
Jewish Columbus, a local nonprofit, says it has partners all over Israel. Members of the group said they took devastating phone calls from people praying they make it out alive. In a pressing effort to help, local Jewish communities are pooling any resources possible after Hamas militants fired thousands of rockets and sent dozens of fighters into Israeli towns near the Gaza strip.
I was talking with one this morning who lives in Tel Aviv and is in a bomb shelter with her 5-month-old baby. She said to me, 'what is coming out and what we're seeing from our friends is even more horrific than we're seeing now in the media,'" said Julie Tilson Stanley, president of Jewish Columbus.
