In the Junior A playoffs, the Cobourg Cougars dismantled the Trenton Golden Hawks 9 to 3, scoring their first win to the Golden Hawks’ 3 in their best of 7 seriesThe Cougars started strong with the first goal of the game late in the first period, when the Golden Hawks answered with their own, the Cougars scored again to maintain their lead going into the second period.

The two teams clash again tonight at 7:30pm. If the Golden Hawks win, they’ll take the best of 7 series and move on in the playoffs.Jacob Vreugdenhill, Nolan Mozer, Barrett Joynt, Ryan Cutler, David Campbell, and Edward Moskowitz scored for the Dukes. The Dukes started strong with an early unanswered goal in the first period, before they took three more points in an explosive second period push, before St. Michaels slipped two goals in at the very end of the frame. St. Michaels claimed one last point in the third period, but the Dukes took two more to extend their lead and ensure they brought home the win.

In the Eastern Ontario Senior League, the Gananoque Islanders defeated the Tweed Oil Kings 10 to 7, taking their best of 5 series as well and eliminating the Oil Kings from the playoffs.
