Sault Police arrested 34-year-old Sunday afternoon following collision at MacDonald and Pim
A local woman is facing a long list of charges after allegedly leaving an accident scene — then driving over a curb and fleeing police who had tracked her down in a parking lot.
The incident began at around 12:20 p.m. on Nov. 10, when someone phoned 911 to report a hit-and-run collision at the intersection of MacDonald Avenue and Pim Street.Officers later located the vehicle in a parking lot on Great Northern Avenue and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. “The driver — later identified as the accused — got out of their vehicle, got back in, drove over a curb, and drove away from police and around a building,” says a news release from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “Officers followed and located the accused walking away from their vehicle.”The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Jones is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
