In his ongoing work as an artist, Werner Hendriks, a resident of Elspark, preserves the legacy of his uncle and well-known artist from Boksburg, Barry de Villiers.“After finishing school, I was unsure of what to do, so I decided to work for my uncle as an artist, and ever since, I haven’t looked back,” he said.

“I enjoy what I do, and I’ve been doing it for the past 24 years; it’s my passion. Art is in my blood. “I enjoy designing flowers because the practice of the art has shaped who I am today. I am, however, up for any challenge.” After his uncle, the custodian of the art centre in 44 Market Street, died on March 8, 2020, Hendriks planned on taking over the art lessons. However, due to the loss of income during lockdown, Hendriks decided not to teach art classes at the centre anymore.

Hendriks then started painting at his studio at home and sell his artwork on Facebook, called Artwork By Werner Hendriks.“I developed over the years as an artist and I hope to grow even more in the future.”
