New data from Takealot shows that sales for loadshedding mitigation products - everything from rechargeable light bulbs to petrol generators - have skyrocketed.
Additionally, the platform nearly doubled the number of brands that offer power solutions, and have seen a 3 000% GMV growth in the sales of generators, UPS devices and inverters.
"Takealot, as retailer, has a 360 view of consumer purchasing choices and we've seen how consumers have started to deprioritise spend on discretionary items to move their spend towards load shedding categories," he says."This is a trend I expect to continue." "We've seen that, as the power solutions category evolves, especially now with the popularity of lithium batteries, consumers are willing to pay more for solutions that are more reliable and long-lasting," he says.
