Lizzo took home a platinum souvenir from SF.
When Lizzo brought the “Special” tour to San Francisco on Saturday night, she came with a mantra that would be repeated throughout the night.Coming from anyone else, the words might ring hollow. But no one else has Lizzo’s almost supernatural ability to will self-confidence into those around her.
“I used to sell my mixtapes for $5 in the parking lot, but now I’m on tour with Lizzo, bitch,” said Latto before breaking into her top single “Big Energy.” Performing with her trusted backup dancers and five-person all-woman band “The Liz-biens,” Lizzo’s showmanship shined through in myriad ways. She mixed elements of spoken word, clowning, modern dance, and stand up comedy to complement her music.Chris Partin/Special to SFGATE
About halfway through the show, Lizzo brought a couch onto the stage for what she called a “therapy session.” From the couch, she performed some of her slower tunes including “Naked” and “Jerome.” Don’t worry, she still managed to fit in some twerking during this portion.
