During her keynote address at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Lizzo slammed the recent anti-trans and anti-abortion policies ordered in Texas.
Lizzo is using her platform to speak out against new Texas policies that target trans people and limit safe abortion access.at the South by Southwest festival in Austin on Sunday, March 13, the musician, who is from Houston, condemned her native state and labeled the recent decisions made by policymakers as “a violation of human rights.”
“I’m proud to rep Houston, but I’m not proud to rep Texan policies right now. And there are very regressive laws being passed,” Lizzo said to the crowd after being asked for her thoughts on the controversial legislations. “They are taking away the right for young children to have a chance to live authentically as themselves.”
