'I suddenly collapsed in excruciating pain, the worst I ever felt' 🔴 When she experienced problems with urinating and digestion, Gitte Kuhne Plambek’s doctor was too quick to dismiss what were classic ovarian cancer symptoms
Two years ago, aged 61, I felt that the asthma was getting worse and that I was becoming more and more fatigued. I was also gaining weight around my stomach. Following an X-ray and lung function test at the local hospital, I was advised by my doctors that the asthma was under control. During that time, I had gained some additional weight and mentioned this to the lung specialist and my GP.
I have never gained weight, except when I was pregnant and only then between a 12kg to 15kg weight gain. I had also told him about all the problems with my digestion, and with urinating. When a GP know his/her patient well, and there suddenly arise a lot of symptoms, the GP should be more alert.
Gitte says it is important for many patients to be able to live ‘as normal a life as possible’ following diagnosis and surgery I received a lot of detailed information in medical language from the hospital, and if it wasn’t for my scientific background , I would have been completely lost.” – a comprehensive digital resource for those affected by ovarian cancer that can support patients like me.
