Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will depart Anfield at the end of the season but his hopes of ending his tenure with a Europa League final are on the brink of collapsing
Liverpool have been told they should consider Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini as Jurgen Klopp 's replacement at the end of this season.
Xabi Alonso was the favourite among the fans to be Klopp's successor, but he confirmed in a press conference recently that he is committed to Bayer Leverkusen. Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim is now being touted with the impending vacancy but Serie A expert James Horncastle believes the man who masterminded the Reds' downfall on Thursday night should not be overlooked.
"They have been to Amsterdam and beaten Ajax, they came within seconds of knocking PSG out of the Champions League and reaching the Champions League semi-finals. The only reason they didn’t do that is because they used all their subs, sustained an injury and were down to ten men and PSG scored twice in stoppage time.
"I think with Gasperini he was burnt in the past when he went to a big job with Inter and Inter didn’t back him and at Atalanta he knows he is onto a good thing. He is in his 60s, he knows the grass isn’t greener on the other side.
