Latest Liverpool media headlines including updates on Joe Gomez, Anthony Gordon and Sepp van den Berg
Liverpool are still open to offers for Joe Gomez . It had been reported earlier this week that that Reds agreed a £45million deal in principle for Gomez as part of a package that would have seen Anthony Gordon switch to Anfield for £75m. However, Newcastle decided to pull the plug on the transfer because they explored other avenues to meet the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Although Newcastle have not made any further offers for Gomez, there is interest from elsewhere. Liverpool are said to be happy with the options they have in defensive areas but will be willing to do business if a club meets their valuation. Elsewhere, The Independent has rubbished rumours that Liverpool were close to agreeing a deal for Anthony Gordon back in June. Liverpool were in talks with Newcastle for Gordon as the Magpies looked to comply with the Profit and Sustainability Rules.
