The former Chinese Buffet and Damon's Restaurant in Speke Aerodrome is set to be turned into a Burger King drive-thru
An iconic former restaurant in Speke is set to be transformed into a Burger King. Found in The Aerodrome, the old airport complex opposite the new Mersey Shopping Park, the building which once housed The Chinese Buffet and, before that, Damon's Restaurant will reopen as a fast food drive-thru.
The description reads: "The property comprises a highly prominent two storey drive-thru restaurant benefitting from a substantial car park with approximately 130 spaces on a 0.67 hectare site. The property benefits from a low site coverage of approximately 16% and may have longer term potential for the development of another Drive Thru or a Kiosk on the site, subject to all consents."
Before the Chinese Buffet took over, many people in Liverpool will have fond memories of the former Damon's which first opened back in 1992. Damon's was known for its trademark ribs and giving Scousers free meals on their birthday. Damon's had branches in the US and elsewhere in the UK, after beginning life in 1979 when its founder, Mr. Irv Rossman, opened the first restaurant in East Columbus.
When the ECHO reported on Damon's closure in 2017, readers said it was "a shame". Carole Green said: "Another Chinese buffet pft ! Damon's was an original loved their ribs and cocktails can't believe it's going ! Please stay Damon's x"
