Liverpool, Man Utd ‘put off’ by hidden cost of Caicedo before £4.5m Brighton dealLiverpool and Manchester United were reportedly keen on signing Moises Caicedo before he joined Brighton but were ‘put off’ by a hidden fee.
Caicedo could already be at either Liverpool or Manchester United had they not been put off by exorbitant agent fees, according to: ‘Liverpool’s interest in Moises Caicedo is long-standing dating back to his time at Independiente del Valle. The challenge back then was a complicated representation situation with a number agencies claiming to act on his behalf.
‘Towards the end of the summer window, his representative agreement was running down, which caused a lot of instability and made it difficult for suitors. Caicedo also still under contract until 2025 and Brighton would love him to sign an even longer deal.’ It’s thought that Chelsea would be a tempting proposition for Caicedo given Graham Potter – who brought the Ecuador international to Brighton – is now in charge at Stamford Bridge.“It made me very sad now that he [Potter] left for Chelsea, because he helped me a lot and I wanted to continue having him as a manager, but that’s football,”“You never know: today you can be here and tomorrow somewhere else, that’s the job of a footballer and a coach.
