The first “Thursday Night Football” game of the season kicks off at 8:20 p.m. Eastern time and will be broadcast on NBC.
Mahomes won his second MVP award and his second Super Bowl after the 2022 season. He’s entering his seventh season in the NFL, and his Chiefs appear as loaded on offense as always. But on defense, they’re missing a key piece: all-pro defensive tackle Chris Jones is in the midst of a contract dispute and has been holding out since the start of the offseason.
The Lions surged late last season, barely missing the playoffs. This year, they’re favored to win their division. If they do, it’ll be the first time since 1993, when they were the champions of the five-team NFC Central.
