Hugh Freeze and the Auburn football team are looking to rebound this week after a humbling 48-18 loss to No. 22 LSU and a game against Ole Miss quickly approaching.
Hugh Freeze and the Auburn football team were likely forced to spend some time gazing into the mirror after Saturday’s 48-18 loss on the road at No. 22 LSU on Saturday.
Here’s everything Freeze said during his press conference Monday morning as he put a bookend to Saturday’s loss to LSU and looks ahead to Saturday’s game vs. Ole Miss: — “Heck yeah, it’ll make you sad when you’re not competing,” Freeze said of his emotions towards the end of Saturday’s game. Says he’s not sure anger is the right response. “I certainly wasn’t happy... I definitely was not happy.”
— On possible personnel changes on offense: “It’s well-documented, we’ve been inconsistent.” Says there were four possessions that Auburn had vs. LSU that the offense could’ve brought Auburn within one possession, but Auburn only got a field goal out of all four of them. “Awful start, I don’t think that helped. We looked like zombies a bit on the sideline after that. It kind of snowballed.
— On Payton Thorne’s evaluation after LSU: “It’s not just the quarterback that makes the passing game go. It’s the protection, the routes... It’s a combination, but the passing game is still inconsistent.”
