LIVE | Dr Nandipha, Bester offered prison guard R105 000 to help with escape - NPA charge sheet
The bail applications for the Bester accused is yet to begin as the court is first hearing bail hearings for its other cases. Men and women appearing for various alleged crimes have been warned of the lights and cameras in the courtroom. But the cameras and microphones will not be in use until the Bester case sits after 11:00.
The room only has three pews where friends, family, media and politician will vie for a seat. During previous appearances, most reporters would stand for the entirety of the hearing.News24 understands the murder charge against Senohe Matsoara, one of the people accused of assisting Thabo Bester to escape from prison last year, will be dropped. Matsoara, a former G4S employee, is one of the six accused who will be appearing in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
- It took authorities close to a year to recapture Bester and arrest his alleged accomplice, Dr Nandipha Magudumana, after they fled to Tanzania.
